Ard-na-Coillie in Newtonmore

Welcome to Ard-na-Coille

This privately owned, luxury five star Guest House in the heart of the Highlands is a hidden treasure. Approached by a winding driveway flanked by mature trees, you will feel you are leaving the real world behind. The trees part to reveal an elegant house, built originally as a private residence in the late 1920s for Sir John and Lady Cargill and is now enjoying a new role as a beautifully appointed country Guest House set behind private electric gates, set in 3 acres of unspoilt wooded grounds .

Ard-na-Coille was featured in the BBC Television series “Monarch of the Glen” as “Glenbogle Golf Club” and has had many members of the cast stay here during filming. We also have other business interests and some of you may have seen Jacquie on the popular BBC2 Television programme, Dragons’ Den!

The former Hunting Lodge has been totally refurbished by Jacquie and Mike. The refurbishment programme has taken over four years to complete with elegant decoration and furnishings enhancing the many original features.

We are approximately one hour from Inverness Airport and approximately 20 minutes from Aviemore. Newtonmore is an ideal base to explore the Highlands and Islands of Scotland! We are also just minutes away from the main A9.

We are located in Newtonmore (appx 20 mins South of Aviemore) in the heart of the Cairngorms National Park – Britain’s newest and largest National Park. The Cairngorms National Park is home to one quarter of the UK’s threatened birds, plants and animals and is twice the size of the Lake District.

We are proud to have been awarded a prestigious 5 Star Guest House rating by VisitScotland and a 5 Star Gold Award by the AA, both in 2008 – one of only a handful of Guest Houses in Scotland to have achieved both 5 star awards.

Whatever the occasion – be it a holiday, a special celebration or simply a well-earned break – you will find Ard-na-Coille hard to beat.

All rooms combine contemporary elegance with a strong sense of history and charm….with fluffy towels, robes and luxury accessories. Our rooms are individually decorated with fine furnishings and fabrics, as you would expect.

A warm welcome awaits you at this family run Guest House where the essence of courtesy, charm and character comes as standard.

Free high speed broadband internet access is available to all residents.

Enjoy an enthusiastic welcome, beautifully furnished comfortable rooms, great cooking, delightful views across the National Park and every comfort in relaxing and peaceful surroundings.
